A fraud amounting to Rs 44.67 lakh has been perpetrated at a private finance firm in Thiruvottiyur by a woman who claimed to have pledged 411 grams of gold jewellery at another private finance firm in Chromepet and suggested that these items be redeemed and pledged with her firm instead. In connection with this case, the police have arrested a woman and the former branch manager of the firm.
